§ I  ·  Transfers & handling

You buy it. It ships to us.
We hand it to you.

That is the whole arrangement. We receive the firearm, log it into the bound book, run your paperwork and the state check, and give it to you at a time that suits you rather than one that suits a shop rota.

We accept every transfer

From any dealer, any online retailer, any private seller, any auction house. We do not refuse firearms we did not sell you, and we do not charge more because you found it cheaper elsewhere. That practice is the single most common complaint people have about transfer dealers, and it is the easiest thing in the world not to do.

Florida law caps the state background-check fee a dealer may charge at eight dollars per transaction. We do not bill it separately.

Work is carried out on firearms you own and returned to you. We are a dealer-gunsmith, not a manufacturer — we do not build guns for sale.

Work on the gun
you already own.

Our federal licence carries gunsmith privileges. Optics mounted properly rather than hand-tight, sights that end up straight, and a rifle that comes back cleaner than the day you bought it.

The published shop rate at the nearest large gunsmith counter in Broward is seventy-five dollars an hour, and eighty is common elsewhere in Florida. We are at sixty-five because there is no showroom to pay for.

and estates.

i · Special orders

Distributor cost plus fifty

There is no showroom here, so there is no showroom markup to cover. Name the make and model; we return with the actual distributor cost and add a flat fifty dollars. You see the invoice, you decide, and nobody attempts to steer you toward whatever carries the best margin this month.

Deposit taken only once you have approved the number.

ii · Consignment

Fifteen per cent of the sale

Shops in Florida quote as much as twenty per cent and then add appraisal fees, minimum hold periods and a penalty if you change your mind. We take fifteen, photograph it properly, list it, handle the transfer and pay you out. Take it back at any time at no charge.

Written appraisal free, whether or not you consign.

iii · Estates

Thirty-five, then twenty-five

Identify what is there, tell you honestly what it is worth, transfer what you are keeping into your own name properly, and consign or lawfully dispose of what you are not. We take this slowly on purpose. No stopwatch, and no pressure to sell us the collection at a number that happens to suit us.

The two-hundred-dollar suppressor stamp is gone. Here is what that actually changed.

§ IV  ·  Suppressors & the National Firearms Act

Zero-dollar stamp.
Identical paperwork.

This is the most misunderstood change in firearm law at the moment, and a good half of what you will read about it online is wrong. Here is the accurate version.

Section 70436 of Public Law 119-21 set the National Firearms Act making and transfer tax to nil for suppressors, short-barrelled rifles, short-barrelled shotguns and AOWs, effective 1 January 2026. ATF's implementing rule took effect on 10 June 2026. Machine guns and destructive devices remain at two hundred dollars.

Pub. L. 119-21 § 70436 · 26 U.S.C. §§ 5811, 5821 · 91 FR (8 May 2026)

What did not change

Everything except the money. You still file the form. You still submit fingerprints and photographs. You still pass the background check. You still wait for ATF approval before you may take possession of the item. Nobody has abolished the registry, whatever a video told you.

Florida permits civilian possession of suppressors, short-barrelled rifles and shotguns, and transferable machine guns, so long as they are lawfully owned under federal law.

Fla. Stat. § 790.221(3)

Whether we can handle your NFA transfer — the honest answer

Dealing in NFA items requires a Class 3 Special Occupational Tax status on top of a federal firearms licence. Not every dealer holds one, and any dealer who is vague with you about this is wasting your time.

Telephone and ask us directly. If we are the right shop for it we will tell you what it costs. If we are not, we will name a dealer who is, rather than string you along. That is the entire policy.

Plate X Four months, exempt
§ V  ·  1 September to 31 December 2026

Florida's Second Amendment sales tax
holiday runs four months this year.

The Legislature passed it in the 2026 special session and the Governor signed it on 29 June. For that window, firearms, ammunition and firearm accessories are exempt from Florida state sales tax — reporting on the bill indicates accessories include suppressors, magazines, optics, holsters, slings, stocks and cleaning kits, with no price cap on firearms or ammunition.

Before you plan a large purchase around it, check the exact exempt-item list in the Florida Department of Revenue's Tax Information Publication. That document, not a news article, is what governs at the register — and we will have the current one to hand.

§ VI  ·  A Florida buyer's guide

What the law actually says,
with the citations.

Most of the bad information people arrive with came from another gun shop. We would rather you had the statute number, so that you can check us. Two of these areas are genuinely unsettled at present and we say so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.

Reviewed 6 August 2026. Verify anything material before relying on it.

You must be twenty-one. All firearms.

Twenty-one to buy any firearm from a Florida dealer — handgun, rifle or shotgun. People assume eighteen is fine for a long gun because that is the federal rule. In Florida it is not.

The Eleventh Circuit upheld the rule sitting en banc in March 2025 and the Supreme Court declined to review it on 30 June 2026. Narrow exceptions exist for law enforcement officers, correctional officers and servicemembers, covering rifles and shotguns only.

Note the awkward part: a Florida court held in June 2026 that eighteen-to-twenty-year-olds may obtain a concealed weapon licence. Being able to carry does not make you able to buy. Two different statutes, and only one of them moved.

Fla. Stat. § 790.065(13) · NRA v. Bondi (11th Cir. 2025, en banc) · cert. denied 30 Jun 2026

The waiting period — unsettled, ask us on the day

Florida's three-day waiting period sits in both the state constitution and § 790.0655. In June 2026 the Attorney General accepted a judgment conceding that it violates the Second Amendment and agreed to stop enforcing it.

That is an enforcement position arising from litigation, not a repeal — the text is still printed in the statute book, and positions of this sort can move. We are not going to tell you on a webpage what your collection timeline will be. Ring us the week you are buying and we will tell you where it actually stands.

Fla. Const. art. I § 8 · Fla. Stat. § 790.0655 · Dunn v. Glass (M.D. Fla. 2026)

Carry: permitless since 2023, open since a 2025 decision

Florida has permitted concealed carry without a licence since 1 July 2023, but only for people who would qualify for the licence. If something in your history would disqualify you from holding one, it disqualifies you from carrying without one too.

On open carry: the First District Court of Appeal held the ban unconstitutional in September 2025 and the Attorney General issued guidance days later directing that law-abiding people carrying visibly should not be arrested or prosecuted. The statute has not been repealed and the Legislature codified nothing in the 2026 session. Location restrictions and private property rights are entirely unaffected — a business can still tell you no.

HB 543 (2023) · Fla. Stat. § 790.01 · McDaniels v. State (Fla. 1st DCA, 10 Sep 2025)

A concealed licence is still worth having

Chiefly for reciprocity — permitless carry stops at the state line, and a Florida licence is what other states recognise. It also matters for the waiting-period exemption written into the statute.

What it will not do is skip your background check at our counter. ATF's permit chart does not treat the Florida licence as a qualifying alternative to a NICS check, so licence holders go through the full FDLE check exactly like everybody else. If a shop told you otherwise, they were wrong.

Fla. Stat. § 790.06 · ATF Brady Permit Chart (eff. 18 Jun 2026)

Bringing identification: the address catches people

You need a valid, unexpired government photo ID showing your name, date of birth, photograph and current residence address. A Florida driver licence normally does it.

If the address on your licence is out of date, federal regulation requires a supplemental government-issued document showing where you actually live — a vehicle registration, a tax bill, a voter ID card. A utility bill, a lease or a bank statement will not do, and we cannot make an exception for you however reasonable it seems.

27 CFR § 478.124 · 27 CFR § 478.11

Buyers from out of state

A rifle or shotgun over the counter: yes, provided the sale is lawful both in your state and in ours. Florida's twenty-one-and-over rule still binds us regardless of where you live.

A handgun: no. Federal law requires the transfer to pass through a dealer in your own state of residence. We will ship it to a licensee near you and you will complete the paperwork there.

18 U.S.C. § 922(b)(3) · 27 CFR § 478.29

Private sales between Florida residents

Florida does not require a background check for a private, non-dealer sale between residents — but you may not knowingly sell to a prohibited person, and the statute setting the minimum purchase age at twenty-one is written as a prohibition on the buyer, not only on dealers. Broward County has its own ordinance covering sales on premises open to the public, which is where gun shows and flea markets come in.

Bring it to us instead. Thirty-five dollars buys both of you a documented transfer and a background check, and it removes any argument about what you did or did not know about the person on the other side of it.

Fla. Stat. § 790.065 · Fla. Const. art. VIII § 5(b) · Broward Cty. Code ch. 18 art. VI

What the state check actually is

Florida is a point-of-contact state. Your check goes to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which searches state records as well as the federal systems — so a Florida result can differ from a plain NICS result. FDLE operates 363 days a year from nine in the morning until nine at night, and reports that 96 per cent of transactions are approved and 98 per cent resolve within minutes.

If yours returns non-approved, that is not the end of it. There is a formal appeal, it must be filed within sixty days, and it requires fingerprints rolled by a law enforcement agency. We will show you how to begin it rather than shrugging.

Fla. Stat. § 790.065 · FDLE Firearm Purchase Program
§ VII  ·  Questions we are asked every week

The usual ones.

Do you take transfers on guns you did not sell me?

Yes. Every one of them, from any source, at the same price. We have no interest in punishing you for shopping around — that is the whole business model.

How quickly will I know my gun has arrived?

The same day. You get a text, not a voicemail you will find on Thursday. Send us the tracking number when you order and we will be watching for it.

What if I cannot get there for a fortnight?

Then it sits safely, and it costs you nothing for the first thirty days. Some shops begin a daily storage charge almost immediately. We do not think a person's work schedule ought to be a revenue line.

I am nineteen. Can I buy a rifle?

Not from any dealer in Florida. The state sets twenty-one as the floor for every firearm, the Eleventh Circuit upheld it, and the Supreme Court declined to take the case in June 2026. The narrow exceptions cover law enforcement officers, correctional officers and servicemembers, for rifles and shotguns only.

We would far rather tell you this now than have you drive here.

Can you handle a suppressor?

Ring and ask us straight. Dealing in NFA items requires a Class 3 SOT status on top of a federal licence, and that is a question with a real yes-or-no answer rather than something to be coy about. If it is not us, we will tell you who.

What we can tell you regardless: the federal transfer tax on a suppressor is now nil, but the form, the fingerprints, the photographs, the background check and the wait for approval are all exactly as they were.

Why will you not publish your street address?

Because we are appointment-only rather than a walk-in shop. You have the address the moment your appointment is confirmed. It means we are never double-booked, you are never queuing, and nobody arrives at nine at night hoping to browse.

Do you charge extra for a card?

No. A number of shops add two to three per cent. Thirty-five dollars is thirty-five dollars however you choose to pay it.

May I have something shipped to you before booking?

Yes, but message us first so that we know it is coming and can get our licence to the seller if they do not already hold it. Firearms arriving unannounced from dealers we have never dealt with create paperwork problems for everybody, including you.
