§ I  ·  Why people drive past four gun shops

Everything people hate about buying a
gun, removed on purpose.

One person, working by appointment, out of a licensed premises in Margate. That is not a limitation we are apologising for. It is the entire reason the experience is better.

The usual complaintWhat happens here
“They only take transfers on guns they sold you.” We accept every transfer. Any dealer, any online retailer, any private seller.
“My gun sat in their back room for a week and nobody called.” You get a text the same day it lands. Not a voicemail. Not eventually.
“Ten to five, Monday to Friday. I have a job.” Seven days a week, 8am to 9pm, by appointment. Sundays included.
“The price on the website wasn't the price at the counter.” Thirty-five dollars is thirty-five dollars. The state check is inside it.
“Four men behind the counter and not one of them looked up.” There is one of us. You get the same person every time, by name.
“The fellow at the shop told me something that turned out to be wrong.” We cite the statute. If we do not know, we say so and go and look it up.
§ II  ·  The whole price list, on the front page

Thirty-five dollars.
That is the number.

Of the thirteen federal firearms licensees in Margate, almost none will tell you what a transfer costs until you are standing in front of them. We think that is the tell. Here is ours, in public, where you are welcome to hold us to it.

Florida law caps the state background-check fee a dealer may charge at eight dollars per transaction. We do not bill it separately — it is inside the thirty-five.

§ III  ·  The procedure

Four steps. Usually under twenty
minutes at the counter.

  1. Buy the gun wherever it is cheapest

GunBroker, Palmetto State, Brownells, Bud's, a forum classified, your cousin in Tamarac — it makes no difference to us. At checkout, name us as the receiving dealer and give them our licence. Most retailers keep licences on file already; if yours does not have ours, tell us who they are and we will send it across the same day.

Send us the tracking number and we will watch for it.

  2. We log it in and text you that day

The firearm goes into our bound book the day it arrives, and you hear from us the same day — not when somebody gets around to it. Then you choose a time. Evenings and weekends are ordinary appointments here, not a favour.

  3. The paperwork and the state check

You complete ATF Form 4473 in person and we submit your background check to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which runs seven days a week from nine in the morning until nine at night. FDLE reports that 96 per cent of transactions are approved and 98 per cent resolve within minutes. We will walk you through every box on the form, properly, without sighing.

Bring a government photo ID showing your current address. The checklist is on the appointments page.

  4. Function check, and then it is yours

Before you leave we clear it, look it over with you, and make certain nothing was damaged in transit. If something is wrong you will find out standing here with us, rather than at the range on Saturday.

§ IV  ·  What we do

A dealer and a gunsmith,
under one licence.

Our federal licence is a Type 01 — dealer in firearms, gunsmith privileges included. In plain English: we can sell you a gun, receive one for you, and work on the one you already own.

i · Transfers

Incoming from anywhere

The core of the business. Any source, any dealer, any private seller, at the same flat price, with the state check included and no storage clock running against you.

ii · Ordering

Special orders at cost plus fifty

No showroom means no showroom markup. Name the make and model, we come back with the actual distributor cost and add a flat fifty. You see the invoice. Nobody steers you toward the best margin.

iii · Gunsmithing

Optics, sights & muzzle devices

Mounted level, torqued to specification, boresighted before it leaves. Forty dollars for an optic, thirty for sights, twenty-five for a muzzle device. The written quote is free, always.

iv · Service

Deep cleaning & inspection

Detail strip, clean, inspect, lubricate, reassemble, function check. Fifty dollars for a pistol, seventy for a semi-automatic rifle. You are told what we found, honestly, including the parts you would rather not hear.

v · Consignment

Sold on your behalf at fifteen per cent

Shops in Florida quote as much as twenty, then add appraisal fees and a penalty if you change your mind. We take fifteen, photograph it properly, list it, handle the transfer, and you keep the difference.

vi · Counsel

Straight answers, free

Whether or not you buy anything. Telephone and ask what the law actually says. The worst case is that we tell you we are not the right dealer for the job and name somebody who is.

§ V  ·  Estates & inherited firearms

Somebody has died and left you guns.
Nobody tells you what to do next.

It happens constantly in South Florida and almost no dealer markets to it, because it is slow, it is sad, and there is no impulse purchase at the end of it. We will come to that conversation without a stopwatch running.

We can identify what is there, tell you honestly what it is worth, transfer what you are keeping into your own name properly, consign what you are not, and make certain the one nobody in the family wants leaves the house lawfully — rather than sitting in a closet for another decade because no one knew who to ring.

Florida law is specific about who may receive a firearm and when, including a hard twenty-one-and-over rule on any purchase from a dealer. We will tell you exactly where you stand before you drive anywhere.

§ VI  ·  Who you are actually dealing with

One licence. One person.
One telephone number that gets answered.

Tier 1 Tactical Gun Depo and Equipment Center is a federally licensed Type 01 dealer and gunsmith working by appointment in Margate. The licence number is printed at the head of every page on this site, because you ought to be able to check it — and because a dealer who will not show you theirs is telling you something.

There is no counter to lean on and nobody to hide behind. Which means the paperwork is done properly, the telephone is answered, and if we make a mistake you will know exactly whose it was.

A word about our address

We are an appointment-only licensed premises rather than a walk-in storefront, so we do not publish the street address. You will have it the moment your appointment is confirmed. It keeps things orderly for us and private for you — and it means nobody arrives unannounced at nine at night hoping to browse.

Sending something to us

The full shipping details, including our licence, are on the appointments page, ready to hand to a dealer or a private seller. Tell us before it ships so we know to expect it.

Ready when you are

Choose a time.
We will be there.

Tell us what is coming in and when you are free. If it is easier simply to ring, the number reaches a person rather than a menu.
